okay question, what are your top 5 fictional characters that you have been obsessed with the longest (time wise) not the ones you love the most (bc i think it makes a difference).

ok. i might still have dif answsers depending on how i break this down but. here's my real 100% focusing on the spirit of the question honest answer
- repliku kh
- vanitas kh
- namine kh
- ventus kh
- mickey kh flavor....
"hey, rar?" kh was my special interest/hyperfixation combo for 8 straight years. very few characters can even compete with that sustained level of obsession before stopped caring about 'em. i think shadow the hedgehog (who i met properly in 2015) is the strongest contender
claus mother 3 is another strong contender (met properly in 2014) but while i'm still absolutely fuckored about him and his tropes, i haven't thought more than idly about him since like. 2017. maybe 2018. that's only 3-4 years of not-even-Constant obsession.
even mario, who by all rights i have been obsessed with since i was old enough to comprehend video games (lets say 5 years old, so that's 20 years), my obsession was with Mario Series, General, not mario specifically. mario himself i've had specific brainworms about since 2018.
((thoughts from the rar porting this tweet thread over: at this point i started reconsidering bc even if my mario brainworms were general, 20 years is an INSANE amount of time to like a thing that you Still Like today))
I forgot to put it in the earlier tweet but I got into kh in 2010. that means the kh cast has 8 years sustained obsession followed by 4 years idle obsession. like. you see why that's nearly impossible to compete with.
((aka: mario really is the only real contender))
so my revised list is
- super mario
- repliku kh
- vanitas kh
- namine kh
- ventus kh
(which means technically my list only got revised to replace mickey with mario. lol. lmao.)
like: by all accounts i was aware of shadow the hedehog since . whenever i bought mario and sonic at the olympic games, which i don't remember the exact year, but was probably somewhere around 2009, and while tails was my "favorite" sonic character to start with, over time i slowly started maining shadow because i thought he was cool. he hit exactly where he was meant to hit to me when i was 12. lol.
so i oculd maybe swap him and ven (my Ven Specific brainworms prob only lasted 3 years, i only cared about him in conjunction with vanitas since) but it feels a little like cheating....
anyway this was fun
