General physical contact is really only a problem on bad days. On in-between days it can be sometimes uncomfortable, but rarely unbearable. On good days, it is only a problem if it is unexpected or forceful or—Architect forbid—both at once.
And Anna is often the exception, as she is for most things in his life.
Of course, even she can’t touch him on bad days, and he’s punched her for coming up on him unexpectedly as often as he’s punched anyone else. But while most of the people he gets to know, the scant few he has ever called family, all of them have mostly just learned how to tell when he is good and when he is not and touch him only when he is good… Anna has gone out of her way to fill the times where he is good with only positive sensations. She does this thing where she’ll trace his ether lines with her fingers, gentle if deliberate, an action that’s sometimes almost meditative for her, and has become soothing to him. It’s something so small, but… There’s something about his body being praised instead of used that’s freeing in ways he didn’t know it could be. It’s easy to feel treasured, under Anna’s hands. Treasured, but not fragile. And that, too, is a blessing.
Anna’s mouth on his skin is another thing he finds rather easy to bear. There’s no bad memories attached to the sensation at all, so even on bad days she can manage to kiss him briefly without his brain immediately setting itself on fire. Kratos thinks she could probably get away with kissing him longer, if she wanted, but she doesn’t want to push her luck—for his sake—and there’s something about that that’s a blessing, too.
