welcome to phase 3 of the rose ostory origins lore,
check out phase 2 here, in which rose was The Most Powerful Being In The Universe, with crazy reality bending powers, and eventually got so fed up with evrerything that she said "fuck this i'm out" and walked out of the narrative, locking herself in a pocket dimension she created For This Express Purpose so no one could bother her ever again
which like? big valid, huge mood, tbh
phase 2 rose was kind of incredibly toxic and had a massive superiority complex (i suppose being the literal most powerful person alive who also the world keeps asking to save their asses will do that to you) and had massive problems with being genuine ever because she was so powerful that all of reality was kind of just a game to her
but upon reixamination (in 2018 for anyone counting) i realized hey hold on there's some good shit here??
rose's personality and superiority complex were tossed out the window, but she remains a girl (age 16 when she started!) who has incredible world bending powers and is probably still the strongest being in existence. there's no prophecy with four guardians or universe mandated protection of all of existence that is upon her shoulders, it's Just Her, and the government of the planet who keeps her on call to constantly save their asses from constant world-ending threats they keep facing
by the time she's in her twenties, she is sick of this. the thrill has worn off. she's moved past "i'm better than everyone" and fallen straight into exhaustion
so, tired of everyone asking her to save their asses, she says "see you fuckers" and creates a pocket dimension to live in where no one can bother her, for the rest of forever
rose has gone from "bratty teenager who thinks herself a god" (WHICH, WOULD BE VALID, ACTUALLY) to tired young adult who's tired of being responsible for everyone else and removes herself from the equation. she's bitter and exhausted but she doesn't shy away from being genuine or being open-- or rather she handles relationships by being guarded rather than insincerity and treating people as toys LKSDJFLSFM phase 2 rose was a brat
and that's tecnically teh end of phase 3 rose lore???
except let's talk about ostory's premise
ostory happens some hundreds of years after rose locked herself in a pocket dimension (it made her immortal i guess??? or maybe time just passed Fucky there) and in these centuries the government / country / world / whatever (I DON'T HAVE TERMS DEFINED YET SLDKJFSF JUST GENERAL CONCEPTS) has become lowkey post apocalpytic (or getting there) in rose's absence and a big threat of Some Sort sits on the horizon, and since rose is gone they have to do something else
so they clone her
they clone her some 50+ times, though only two of the clones remain stable / have anywhere near her reality bending powers. one of the clones, who goes by minnow, runs away from the government they were held captive by and somehow ends up on rose's doorstep
getting there broke down the pocket rose created and now it's Not locked off from everything else, and unfortunately the government that minnow escaped from really really REALLY wants them back
cue road trip where rose has to look after minnow (WHO IS LIKE? TWELVE??? WHAT HTE FUCK SHE THINKS WHILE GESTURING WILDLY TOWARDS THE GOVERNMENT THAT CREATED THEM) and eventually ends up adopting them mmmMMM good shit
