2021 was a freaking year lol uh
this isn't "ten fics" i liked this it's just a handful of fics i posted this year that i wanna mention, even tho its like, basically most of them, idk,
one mistake is all that it can take - YWKON, the first fic i posted this year, the one where jademythra find out that anna and malos AREN'T dead, actually. for all that it's not really a fic i'd shove in your face like READ READ READ IM SO PROUD (seeing as it like, is only of any significance if you're a longstanding ywkon fan,) it does have my favorite bit of jademythra prose in it which is just hte "Logically, logically the both of them should take a step back from this, think a little before they do anything, but. What a shame. He’s already let Mythra out of his sight." I JUST LOVE THAT FOR THEM
Super Mario and the Terrible, Horrible, Very Bad Week - aka "oops! all ot3!" or "the tok fic", aka a brief retelling of paper mario: the origami king's events but set post everything changes, which is a fic i wrote backi n 2018 after super mario odyssey where mario/peach/bowser get married lol. so!! since the premise of tok is ALREADY, "mario and bowser team up in the back half of the game to save peach" i wanted to write a fic about what that looks like........ which accidentally turned into "hey mario has ptsd you assholes can we address that?" so i addressed that. idk. it's a fun fic exploring mario/bowser marriage and also mario coping with the specific trauma he has about fighting his loved ones because they were possessed. i think its very good and if you choose one and only one fic to read by me this year make it this one thanks.
Bowser's Fury but Junior asks Peach for help instead of Mario - a spiritual followup to the above fic written shortly after i processed that bowser's fury is a game about bowser getting.......... possessed and mario has to fight him. lmao. so here's a short fic dodging that situation because, well, what the title says
you can't choose what stays and what fades away - (xiv) the fic's premise isn't entirely obvious, but it's hey what if instead of just kind of poofing after arriving on the first, minfilia is totally fine and herself and MAYBE no longer has hydaelyn hitching a ride in the back of her brain anymore. and also she can hear ardbert. and so she and ardbert are friends and she and g'raha are about to become friends. its a setup of what her role will be during shb in a larger au i want to write (whether or not i will is another story) but i just think its neat.......... am sad i didn't to spend long dealing w/ minfilia's new immortality coming with a couple of downsides but oh well. future things to explore. anyway minfilia i like her she's easily my favorite xiv character lmao
just another sinner - (xiv) the longer au in question, but mostly told thru scattered vignettes of character interaction instead of a longfic format. i'll be rethinking this format (not to make it not vignettes, but because posting chronologically is really hurting me) ........ i love anna i love almond there's a lot of gems in here. chapters 8 (grief is a bowling ball and i am the pins) and 18 (OP GAVE ME FIVE SECONDS AND I CAME UP BLANK) are my favorites so far i think.... the lyse+anna grief convo just good and i love yshtola facilitating almond's lesbian awakening so much
he can eat ice cream now!!! - a sonic 06 fic i threatened to write a long time ago and then forgot about. it's not a lot, but it is my favorite takeaway from 06 i think. silver can eat ice cream now :)
in which two teenagers bully a goddess - (dywc) a slice of life thing about two of my ftpcast kids bullying meyneth about her ex. it's not a lot, but "misc character interactions with no real stake on them" is becoming my favorite type of fic to write. characters just hanging out is fun my guys....

MISC LOW STAKES NONSENSE CHARACTER INTERACTIONS WHERE THEY JUST VIBE AND HANG OUT IS SIMPLY SOOOOOO i love them

Kairi and Martel training hour - (dywc) what was that i was saying about misc character interactions just for funsies beign one of my favorite things to write etc. also this has fun new kairi<>kano agenda. i love them.

in which Jade and Colette have a converastion, contextless - (ywkon) lyre told me to write a fic that was exactly 394 words so that ywkon could be 666,666 worlds as a whole for a joke so i did and this is what came out. remember what i was saying about just little scenes of character interaction being my jam? :) yeah..... i like them................... and i like this scene a lot, for something that was written to fulfill a shitpost i don't think you'd ever tell.
smoldering softly, biding time - (xiv) the baby dragon in endwalker gave me brainworms. it's basically all i've thought about since finishing endwalker. ANNA AND ALMOND DESERVE TO ADOPT A DRAGON AND BECOME PARENTS and this fic also has such a cute scene between the two of them about agreeing to do this.... the domecisity ..... i love them
