THIS FAMILY TREE IS STUPID
i am committing to zelda and sheik being half siblings also because even if it could be fun to play with romos re: them both having extremely fluid genders i am very extremely writing a genfic so
also the way i got to them as half siblings is so funny to me i was like wait i'm not sure i want to give zelda a dead parent but who tf *is* her other parent and then i realized. impa is right there. if the queen of hyrule is dating her handmaiden on the downlow what of it.
yes i CAN make this family tree as stupid as possible and i will in fact do it
ACTUALLY THE REAL REASON IS THAT I WAS LIKE LINK'S MOM VISITS THE QUEEN WHEN ZELDA IS LIKE. TWO. KEEPING ZELDA OUT OF THE SCENE IS ONE THING BUT KEEPING ZELDA'S OTHER PARENT OUT OF HTE SCENE IS ANOTHER ENTIRELY also zelda's mom does not act like she's grieving
slams hands on desk repeatedly. like ultimately i didn't want a dead parent in here at all but the funking realization from >"wait where is zelda's other parent they would be in this room at 3am" >"impa is in the room"
LIKE. I REALIZE THAT FOR POLITICAL REASONS THAT ZELDA'S OTHER PARENT COULD BE A RANDO OF CONVENIENCE SO THAT THE QUEEN HAD AN HEIR AT ALL BUT I'M EXTREMELY FOND OF HER AND IMPA JUST DATING ON THE DOWNLO.

MISC INCLUDING LINKS DAD
god i should introduce the cast someday but i also want to like..... at least attempt drawing them first becuase i like having pictures
tentative introductions written but it would be nice for these to not be 50% physical appearance (I say as if I will be able to convey much more than a 3/4 portrait and their coloring with my art. lmao)
also implying link's dad is still alive means perhaps 1) I should think about putting him in the narrative for realsies 2) HAVE TO DECIDE HOW MUCH I WANT TO COMIT TO LEAVING HIM AMBIGUOUS FOR THE FUNNY CROSSOVER CONTINUITY

had the sudden unquenchable urge to give one of the characters in this goddam cast a cat and 1) tfw it'd be more personal for link to have a cat vs 2) there have got to be SO many cats at the castle lets be real here
i mean i guess the answer si the ever versatile "why not both" but i'm goin thru it
link is going to name the cat navi and his mother is going to have half a conniption if she knows enough about history to know why that's significant.
sheik is friends with every cat in the castle but is at the age where he thinks he's Too Cool for that and would die of embarasment if anyone knew. unfortunately for him zelda is also friends with all these cats.
now i gotta figure out if anyone in this cast can talk to cats. on one hand we are in a magic world so i would believe any of them. on the other hand the implications of link being able to understand animals considering Plot Noises; i feel obligated, legally, for it to be him
unfortunately zelda and sheik being able to straight up talk to cats is both lore sound (magic in one way or another) and impossible for me to let them both be able to because it's an ability JUST rare enough
thats fine 1) zelda can find out sheik loves cats another way 2) quite honestly i don't think sheik minds zelda knowing considering how close they are already 3) IF LINK FINDS OUT HE'LL BE MORTIFIED, THOUGH, SO
having the most lore important thoughts ever this morning: ARE THERE CATS IN THIS NARRATIVE AND WHERE ARE THEY.

i was planning on opening chapter 1 proper with sheik bumming around the training grounds mostly just to kill time but he COULD be hanging out with a cat instead. decisions.
KICKS DOOR IN LISTEN TO ME. sheik thinks hes very subtle feeding navi (the cat) treats where link wont notice but link can understand navi so she absolutely mentions it at some point, much to sheik's dismay
