i remembered the witty thing i was going to say and it's APPARENTLY VAN IS HERE?? legretta mentions him tho we have yet to see him. i do not know shit yet, if he was introduced in MSQ it must have been during last cradle. that or he's just Here and they haven't explained why. highly possible it's the latter.


Anise: Hah... Hah.... I think we finally did it. Those imperials are seriously annoying! They've got armor like cockroaches!
Luke: Right! And they kept coming, like ants swarming sugar!
Jade: The two of you are alike in the strangest of ways...
Tear: Excuse me, Major... You aren't injured, are you?
Legretta: Ah... oh, no, I'm fine. I'm just surprised you were able to help me. It seems like you already understood what was going on in this world...
Luke: This world... No, how do I put this... This place isn't Auldrant, I guess.
Anise: But you were wondering why we're here too, right?
Legretta: There was a statue of the Necromancer back in the capitol. After seeing something like that, even I could make a guess.
Luke&Anise: Hehe.
Mieu: The Jade statue is so big!!! Isn't it cool!!
Jade: What a nuisance. Even you've seen that dreadful thing? Every day I think I'd be better off destroying it...
Tear: Pardon me, Major. But would you mind telling me how much you know about the present situation?
Legretta: Regarding Saint Jade?
Tear: N- no, not that!
Legretta: Heh, it was a joke. But if you want me to tell you what I know, first you have to tell me what you know.
Jade: Very well. The Empire went through all this trouble, sending troops to this remote location, because you are a Nexus.
Legretta: The soldiers weren't after me. They wanted Arietta.
Luke: Arietta's here too!?
Legretta: I lost track of her while I was keeping the soldiers from following her.
Anise: Wait a minute. Weren't you two cooperating with the Empire? So why were they chasing you?
Legretta: I don't know.
Anise: You don't know, huh? But if you were with Arietta, couldn't you have asked?
Legretta: She wasn't exactly in a state to speak to me. By the time I found her, she was nearly dead.
Luke&Tear&Anise: !?
Jade: ...I see. Incidentally, why were you in contact with Arietta, anyway?
Legretta: My objective was to rescue the Commandant. For that, I needed Arietta.
Luke: Y- you mean Master Van?
Jade: If that's true, then I take that to mean Van's been made into a Living Doll?
Legretta: I don't know what any of this Living Doll business is, but I thought I saw him once, when I was in the capitol.
Legretta: Even at a glance I could tell it wasn't the Van I knew. I don't know what they did to him or what they're using him for, but bold of them to assume I'd forgive it.
Jade: Enough. We get the picture. Since then you've been fighting with imperial soldiers while searching for Arietta, yes?
Legretta: Correct.
Jade: Hm. Well, that looks like one problem solved.
Luke: Huh!? S- since when?
Jade: I meant the monsters, of course. Isn't exterminating them what we came here for?
Anise: Well, yeah, but I don't see how that solves anything!
Legretta: ...exterminating monsters?
Tear: Y- yes. We received information that monsters were assaulting a village nearby, so we're here to take care of it...
Legretta: I see. Well, like the Necromancer said, that's one problem solved. Likely the local monsters got restless while Arietta's monsters were staying in their territory.
Jade: Exactly. And when Legretta rescued Arietta-- or perhaps if the Empire captured her, then the forest monsters would have calmed down.
Luke: Y... yeah...?
Legretta: Yes. In that case, we should get out of here as soon as possible. There are probably more imperial still soldiers lurking nearby.
Tear: Major Legretta...
Jade: Well, then let's regroup with Guy and the others and return to base.
Luke: Wait, Jade! Are you sure it's fine to leave Arietta alone like this? If the Empire exoflected her and Legretta and was trying to capture them, surely it was for some kind of reason.
Jade: Oh, are you volunteering to rescue Arietta, then? The girl who's a part of the empire, who's working against us?
Luke: I... well... But she's injured, isn't she? Aren't they going to do something to her? And maybe she has a reason to oppose them...
Jade: I don’t feel we can comfortably make that call. After all, Arietta never went anywhere the original Ion didn’t, and she did everything he said.
Luke: Yeah, but... Legretta... She's not really an ally of the Empire, and she's Tear's instructor, and...
Tear: Luke...
Anise: Colonel. Shouldn't we cooperate with Legretta? We can't just... leave Arietta alone...
Legretta: What are you all talking about? Aren't we enemies?
Luke: Y- yeah, but only back home! There's nothing like the Score in this world, and in any case if Master Van chose to work with the Empire of his own free will like you said, then...

Legretta: You're really agreeing with them?

Tear: Major Legretta. I think we will be better off if we combine our strengths. Can we join you?
