in this episode: significantly more van lore than i care about, and then the gang uses arietta's monsters to track arietta. unless you care about van, not a lot really happens in this one 😔
Jade: --and that about covers everything there is to know about this world. I trust you at least understood the gist of it?
Legretta: I did. I thought they were manipulating the Commandant with some kind of special technique, not that his heart had been replaced.*
(*TL: i don't know how living doll stuff works and do not care enough about Van to agonize over this, sorry about the broken lore)
Legretta: But if we return his heart core to him, he'll return to normal, right.
Jade: Yes. Replacing it will require special equipment, but since it's necessary, I'll see if I can arrange letting you borrow it.
Jade: Like Luke already said, it's not like there's much reason for you or Van to be hostile towards us in this world.
Tear: Major Legretta. After... after you save my brother, what are you planning on doing?

Jade: We could look at the monsters nearby, see if they have similar footprints.
Luke: Oh! If the prints are different, that would explain why the monsters who live here are so restless. They can't have liked Arietta's monsters passing through their territory.
Legretta: I think it's too early to make THAT call, but we don't exactly have another clue. Any objections to following the trail, Necromancer?
Jade: Oh, I wasn't aware you cared about my opinion. Well, if you want to carelessly charge into the angry monsters' nest, I'm sure Luke will figure something out for you.
Luke: What! Why me!?
Jade: Well, don't you always?
Luke: I- I mean, yeah, I... Tear and Anise... Huh? Wait a second. Aren't you the one who always comes up with plans, Jade? Why are you saying I'm the one who--
Jade: Lend me a hand, won't you Mieu?
Mieu: Master's the best! He can do anything!!

Tear: This forest is so dark... I guess it doesn't see a lot of sun since the trees are so thick.
Legretta: Be on your guard, Tear. Not only do the trees make it hard to see, they also provide ample cover for an enemy to hide behind. You must always be vigilant.

Luke: Huh- a monster!? Wait, how do we tell if it's one of Arietta's? We can't attack one of her monsters, that'd be bad!
Jade: Luke, isn't there a certain-someone you're forgetting about? I believe he calls you "Master".
Luke: Oh, that's right! Mieu!! Can you talk to that monster for us?
Mieu: O- of course!

Mieu: Mr. Monster said he'd show us to where she is!
Legretta: Tch. Of course those weren't the only soldiers pursuing her.
